Jewish Legal Studies

Jewish Legal Studies examines the intersections of Jewish peoplehood and law. This distinct field of study considers how law protects, harms, and otherwise affects Jews, both as individuals and as members of a collective. It also examines how Jewish thought, legal traditions, and historical experience can inform and illuminate law and legal systems. Jewish Legal Studies is particularly concerned with the intersections of law and antisemitism, anti-Zionism, and other forms of anti-Jewish hatred, as well as with the ways law can serve as a tool for protecting Jewish civil rights and ensuring the equal participation of Jews in society.
